Combo Class Frequently Asked Questions

All forms need to be filled out and signed to register for dance. Yoga only requires Waiver of Liability & Media Release. If you are unable to print, forms will be available at registration.

I am so excited that you have decided to sign up for our Combo class! First of all, what is a combo class? It is a 50-minute class for 3-5 year olds that includes 25 minutes of tap and 25 minutes of ballet. Children will learn basic dance steps, but will also learn how to take a structured class, wait their turn and most importantly have fun while being active and moving!

How can I prepare my child for the first class?

First classes are very important because for many children this is the first time they have taken a structured class. Parents are not allowed in the studio during class, but rest assured you will be able to watch them on a TV screen in the lobby. Start preparing them at home now that they will be on TV and you are watching them. Get them excited and give them full encouragement at home, which will make the transition into class without you easier.

What do I need to bring to class?

Please have a dance bag for your child. Does not need to be anything big or special, just something they can take into class with their shoes. I will be changing their shoes half way through class. PLEASE LABEL ALL SHOES with your child’s initials to prevent confusion when changing shoes.

What does my child need to wear?

Leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes are required. Any color leotard is acceptable. If you wish, the child may wear a skirt or tutu.

What happens if my child needs to go to the bathroom during class?

All children must be potty trained in order to take class. No exceptions. It would be best to take your child to the bathroom before class begins. It is only a 50-minute class so I encourage parents to stay during this time. If for some reason you need to leave, a waiver needs to be signed so the secretary can escort your child to the bathroom. The teacher CANNOT leave the room and leave children unattended. If the waiver is NOT signed, then a parent or guardian MUST be present for the duration of the class. The waiver is in place to ensure all parties are on the same page.

What if my child cries during class?

Starting something new can be scary for anyone, especially toddlers. The teacher will do her best to calm the child and get them interacting in class. Some children need to sit and watch a class first, and that’s OK! In the rare case that the child does not calm down, the teacher will then take the child into the lobby to either a parent or guardian. But don’t be frustrated if your child cries! It is normal and all staff members are prepared for it.

I hope this letter has answered some of your questions. I am so excited for the upcoming year! Please don’t hesitate to ask or email me questions. I am looking forward to teaching your child!
